Paris, France – The Al Oerter Foundation (AOF) made an extraordinary impact at the Paris 2024 Olympics with vibrant live murals, personal engagements with global leaders, and a continued focus on uniting art, sport, and Olympic values.
At the heart of Foundation’s presence in Paris was world-renowned “Athlete Artist” Carling Jackson, who captivated audiences with her live mural painting during the opening ceremonies. Jackson, a member of the Foundation’s affiliate athlete art organization, dazzled on-lookers with artwork that embodied the spirit of Olympism.
Her works featured at USA House and Canada House celebrated athletes and the global unity fostered through the Games in Paris. Her mural drew attention from spectators and dignitaries alike, further solidifying the AOF’s affiliate, Art of the Olympians’ (AOTO) mission of using art to elevate Olympic ideals.
A highlight of AOF/AOTO representatives’ time in Paris was a meeting with Princess Charlene of Monaco, a former Olympic swimmer, and her husband, Prince Albert II. Last year, the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation entered a partnership arrangement with AOF/AOTO.
Both royals are former Olympians and they expressed their appreciation for the organization’s efforts to bridge sport and culture through creative expression. The royal couple’s participation underscored the global recognition of the Al Oerter Foundation’s internation work and AOTO’s U.S. program efforts of deep connection to the values of the Olympics.
“We are honored to contribute to the Olympic movement in such a meaningful way,” said the AOF/AOTO team. “Carling’s art embodies our belief in the power of creativity to inspire excellence and bring communities together. Meeting with Princess Charlene further highlighted the important role that art and sport play in promoting unity, peace, and the best of human potential.”
As AOTO continues its outreach efforts, the organization remains committed to fostering character and excellence through the arts, a legacy inspired by Al Oerter’s vision of achieving greatness both in sport and in life.
