Fort Myers, FL (February 12, 2016) – HSH Albert II, Prince of Monaco and monarch of the Principality of Monaco, has accepted a position as Trustee for the recently formed Al Oerter Foundation (AOF).

In making the announcement Wednesday, foundation president and CEO Cathy Oerter, expressed her deep appreciation to Prince Albert II for his interest and support of AOF. The participation of his royal highness, Prince Albert II in AOF will play an important role in our mission’s effort and effectiveness,” remarks Oerter.

Prince Albert II, a voting member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has been a strong proponent and supporter of AOF’s primary programme – Art of the Olympians (AOTO). Prince Albert II, in fact, visited Fort Myers three years ago throwing his full support behind the organization’s international art and sports program.

AOF, having been chartered in November, has as its mission the fostering of programs internationally for children and youth of the world that promote individual character, integrity, excellence and the highest ethics of humanity through the leadership and teachings by Olympians through AOTO.

The foundation, explains Oerter, is building to serve as a funding and oversight body for organizations wishing to host and develop programs that provide art, education, sport and cultural outreach to inspire individuals, particularly youth and their communities to uphold the virtues of excellence.

Meanwhile, AOTO, which was founded nearly 10 years ago by Cathy Oerter’s late husband, four-time Olympic gold medalist and artist Al Oerter, has gone through a restructuring. For several years, AOTO was headquartered in Fort ..2Myers. Roald Bradstock of Atlanta – a two-time Olympian and highly successful artist – serves as the organization’s executive director.
